Use Big Jigs In Strong Currents
Jigs are incredibly effective lures, but to be effective they need to be near the bottom. The more time you spend with your bait in the strike zone, the more fish you’re going to catch.
Any time I’m jigging in a location with strong currents, I often wind up using heavier jigs than I normally would, simply to maintain bottom contact. You want to keep a vertical line, and a heavier jig helps achieve that – whether you’re fishing in a strong current or on a windy day. Boat control is also essential in helping you maintain bottom contact, but simply stepping up your jig size can often make the difference between catching fish or striking out.
