The Hayward, Wisconsin-based National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame has inducted 11 individuals and one organization this year.
Dan Basore has shared his knowledge through his “Fishing History” column in Midwest Outdoors and other publications for over 30 years. For many years Basore has been in charge of the National Fishing Lure Collector’s Club.
Rapala says its lures were responsible for setting more International Game Fish Association (IGFA) world records in 2016 than any other lure brand.

The day’s first bite resulted in this beautiful 17 pound striper, which crushed Jeff’s prior best by more than five pounds!

It sounds like a fish story, but when you visit the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, fish stories are the order of the day.

These orders deliver on promises made by both President Trump and Secretary Zinke to expand access to America’s public lands.

Fishing is huge business, as some new statistics from the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation prove. Consider these numbers from its newly-published 2016 Special Report on Fishing:
• In 2015, 45.7 million Americans, or 15.6 percent of the population ages six and up, participated in fishing.
• These participants fished a total of 887 million times, averaging 19.4 days each.
